Fresh Tomato-Basil Sauce is the perfect accompaniment for dipping & it makes use of those end of summer tomatoes lingering in your garden. This recipe makes 4 miniature pans of goodness so it’s ideal for a small crowd. Kick off a host of upcoming fall activities with a crowd-pleasing morsel everyone will rave over.

Whole Wheat Pepperoni Pizza Rolls
makes 2 dozen

4 {6-oz} portions refrigerated Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
42 pepperoni slices
1/4 cup butter, melted
2 garlic cloves, pressed
1/2 cup shredded Mozzarella-Provolone cheese blend
Kosher salt & freshly ground black pepper
Garnishes: Crushed red pepper flakes, Parmesan cheese & fresh basil
Fresh Tomato-Basil Sauce

Remove 4 {6-oz} pieces Whole Wheat Pizza Dough from the refrigerator. Press the air out of the dough, then portion into {1-oz} pieces. Roll each piece of dough into a ball. Place 8 pieces into each of 3 lightly greased 7-inch pans, leaving some space between the other pieces of dough. Snuggle two stacked pieces of pepperoni evenly between the dough pieces. Cover loosely with plastic wrap. Let stand 1 hour.

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Stir together the butter & the garlic in a small bowl, then pour it over the top of all of the doughs. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake 16 to 18 minutes or until the cheese melts & the bread is golden brown. Remove the bread from the pan & transfer to a serving plate. Sprinkle with salt & pepper. Garnish, if desired. Serve the Fresh Tomato-Basil Sauce.
