The Ingredient Staples
A well stocked pantry & refrigerator is the first step to making sure baking will be effortless. Eggs play a vital role when making homemade bread with rich flavor. Use only the freshest eggs. Active dry yeast will also be necessary in order to create the proper structure homemade bread needs. I prefer the jars so precise measurements may be made as needed. Standard all purpose flour & bread flour may be used for most of the recipe formulas I’ll be showcasing. The latter offers good structure so pick up a 5 pound bag for use in some of the items. A smidgen of granulated sugar may be needed to balance formulas but do not expect overly sweet taste. The sugar is also a component that will aide in providing color over surfaces at the end of bake times. There are several ways to add sheen to baked goods & one of my favorite methods is to swipe the top of loaves with oil. Vegetable oil will suffice in these instances as well as a bit of shortening for use in recipe preparations.

The Tools & Equipment
A stand mixer, half sheet pans, parchment paper & a rolling pin will be used to prepare many of the bread recipes. A bench scraper, a bread board & a rubber spatula will also prove helpful while cooking spray & plastic wrap will keep doughs from sticking to bowls & films from forming over surfaces.

The Logistics
Many of the breads I’ll be sharing may be eaten right after baking but they will also hold several days if properly stored. Freezing homemade bread is another option, too. Place cooled loaves in bags & store up to one month. Thaw quickly in the microwave or allow to stand at room temperature in the bags an hour or so. Let individual recipes guide you in determining other methods for holding breads.
