Monterey Jack Cheese

Monterey Jack cheese is a semi-hard, American produced cheese made from cows milk with a mild flavor that has excellent melting capabilities. Although it may be sparingly found already shredded, the smooth texture & consistency may best be utilized when purchased in blocks. It may then be shredded as needed for specific recipe applications. Monterey Jack Cheese is a good source of calcium which aides in strong bone health as well as protein to keep you feeling full for longer periods of time. Monterey Jack Cheese originated in California & is often used in many authentic Mexican cuisine classic recipes.

How To Use & Store Monterey Jack Cheese

Monterey Jack Cheese is a wonderfully flavorful choice for use in quesadillas, chimichangas, tacos, enchiladas, flautas, taquitos & more due to it’s creamy consistency when melted. It’s most readily available in 1-pound portions so a quick run down a box grater will have it available for use quickly.

Monterey Jack Cheese has a general shelf life of up to 6 months once prepared & packaged for sale. After opening, use within 14 days. Any unused portion of cheese should be stored in the original packaging, then covered well. Place it in a small zip-top bag, press all of the air from it & seal. Store the cheese in a cold portion of the refrigerator, generally a drawer that isn’t opened frequently is the best place for it.
