Bloody Mary Shrimp Cocktail
Although shrimp cocktail is considered to be an elevated menu item, not many will turn down the popular combination. For a hostess, it’s a simple dish requiring little time investment that scores big with football fanatics whether it’s game day or a cocktail social. Bloody Mary Shrimp Cocktail offers a fresh twist to this delicious appetizer. The key to serving it is to make certain the shrimp remain good a chilled. Bloody Mary Shrimp Cocktail
makes 4 servings
The Basic Fundamentals
The count is the number of shrimp that can be found per pound when purchasing.
1 lb {16 to 20-count} fresh wild American shrimp, peeled & deveined
1 cup Bloody Mary Salsa
2 tsp prepared horseradish
Bring 1 quart water to a boil over Medium-High heat. Add the shrimp & cook 1 to 2 minutes or just until pink. Drain. Immediately rinse under cool water. Submerge in an ice bath to stop the cooking process. Drain. Place the shrimp over fresh ice in a bowl & chill 1 hour.
Combine the Bloody Mary Salsa & the horseradish in a small bowl. Serve with the shrimp.
The Extra Point
Serve the shrimp over mixed baby lettuces with quinoa & fresh vegetables for a delicious lunch salad.

How To Peel & Devein Shrimp
Preparing shrimp for a variety of recipe applications is simple. First start with the fresh, wild American shrimp then use it within a day or so. Follow these tips for peeling & divining them.
The Technique
When purchasing shrimp, the count is a range of how many to expect per pound. They will need to be peeled & deveined. Remove the shells leaving the tails intact. Cut a small slit down the back of the shrimp. Use the tip of the paring knife to remove the vein. Rinse under cool water.
