Apple juice can be substituted for the bourbon, if desired.

2 Tbsp brown sugar
2 tsp kosher salt
1 tsp chipotle chili powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp dried thyme leaves
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1 Tbsp Kentucky bourbon

Combine the first 6 ingredients in a small bowl. Stir in the bourbon, forming a paste. Use as directed.
