The Technique
Pecans
From September through November, the pecan harvest is underway & just in time for some of our favorite recipe applications. The warm, toasty notes bridge the seasons with end of summer fruit selections as found in Crowning Jewel Bourbon-Pecan Peach Pie so that they can then stand alone for game day celebrations as featured in Gridiron Whiskey-Pecan Slab Pie. Pecans accent holiday baked goods beautifully with breakfast cakes filled of spice. Cinnamon-Crunch Coffee Cake, Hummingbird Coffee Cake or Pumpkin-Pecan Crunch Coffee Cake make holiday gatherings more festive. A basic Pecan Streusel can also highlight holiday side dish classics like Sweet Potato Casserole by adding crisp texture & wonderful flavor. Toasted pecans offer hearty crunch to yeast breads as featured in the Cranberry-Pecan Cornmeal Bread. They pair beautifully with chocolate, fruit, main dish & dessert sauces, too.
