Walnuts

Walnuts are actually the seeds of drupes that come from the genus Juglans. California is the largest producer of walnuts in the United States staking claim to approximately 90% of them. Although they are not technically nuts, when used in recipes, we treat them in a similar way as they may be toasted & added to a variety of baked goods, salads, side dish & main dish classics. Walnuts accent breakfast items such as Walnut-Pumpkin Waffles with Pumpkin Spice Maple Syrup to desserts including Walnut-Brown Sugar Stone Fruit Gallettes. They may be added to a cream cheese blend & used on The New Thanksgiving Turkey & Cranberry Sandwich for an interesting twist on a traditional staple. Learn how to toast walnuts that may be used for a variety of holiday recipes.
