The Technique

Hazelnuts

Hazelnuts are often times reserved for truly fine bakeshop confections. When finely ground, they may be used in flourless chocolate cakes, macaronssponge cakes & butter cookies for a distinctive taste. Toasting them only provides even more flavor notes & is a relatively straightforward procedure. Hazelnuts have a skin on the outer portion & once they are warm, it may be removed by placing them in a dishtowel & rubbing them gently. If they are a bit stubborn, the hazelnuts may be used in recipe applications all the same. Learn how to toast hazelnuts for use in a variety baked goods.
