The Profile

Flore Pleno Daylily

Flore Pleno Daylilies are a perennial specimen that may be identified by their hot color & triple layer of petals once open. The flowers bloom in the morning & last just one day however they are a reliable garden staple & offer beautiful color two to three weeks during growing season. They are extremely drought tolerant & offer a showy appearance during the hottest days during the summer when other flowers tend to fade. Plant the rhizomes in partial or full sun & they look best when distributed throughout garden spaces by offering good balance.  Flore Pleno Daylilies look great in borders for their flower spikes pop up from the grassy foliage that will remain a bit after bloom time. Pluck them as they yellow & new green growth will emerge. Provide well drained soil for this excellent specimen that is low maintenance but produces high impact.

The Yard Arrangement

Simple glass square or cylinder containers allow Flore Pleno Daylilies to shine. Pair them with Shasta Daisies, Hostas & ferns to balance their bold color when entertaining. Line the outer portion of the vase with Hosta for interesting appeal then nestle lily stems with open & closed blooms in the center to create compact clusters of color. Tuck the Shasta Daisies around the petals then place the containers on the center of buffet tables & kitchen islands. They make quite an impact when used as focal points in entryways.
