Elephant Ears

Colocasia or Elephant Ears, offer a bold, tropical feel to gardens. Their lush green foliage pairs well with many summer blooms. Elephant Ears emerge from bulbs that perform best when planted approximately 4-inches beneath a mix a rich, organic soil in a location that receives sun or partial sun. They multiply prolifically once established & benefit from dividing every few years so share them with friends. Be certain to keep plants well watered, particularly under dry conditions. Bulbs may be removed from the soil in the fall after the first frost & dried indoors. Store in peat moss over the winter & be certain they are in a location above 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Elephant Ears do produce flowers however many gardeners prefer to remove them from plants to concentrate the nutrients on leaf production. Learn how to use this beautiful specimen in outdoor spaces.
