The Profile

Succulents

Succulents make lovely focal points to bridal bouquets, sweet wedding favors & elevate entertaining spaces beautifully. Succulents naturally hold up well over time as they retain water in their leaves, stems & roots so as to survive long periods of drought. They may be found in desert areas with many originating in Mexico & South Africa. Succulents may be used indoors throughout the year, as a landscaping element or in container gardens. They require specific watering habits in order to thrive. A rule of thumb is to water the roots then allow them to dry a few days before repeating the process. Spritzing them with a mist of water in between is also a good idea. Learn how to use succulents when entertaining.

The Technique

Succulents are wonderful to use as specimens for garden spaces & make good ground cover or filler between stones on pathways. They are simple to propagate as just a few stems or leaf cuttings can quickly become full-sized plants. They offer lovely decorative value & look best when grouped with other varieties. Choose two or three when creating arrangements & the best vessels to plant them in are pots with adequate drainage. When considering them for wedding favors, place one in a small pot or wooden container then line the succulents up for guests to take after festivities have ended.
