How To Boil

Boiling is a cooking method that relies on vigorous moist heat that must reach 212 degrees. It may either surround food during the procedure as in the case of potatoes or eggs in order to produce an evenly cooked result or thicken liquids with the aide of an agent such as cornstarch or flour as in the case of many cream pie fillings. It is a quite versatile technique that can either soften foods or in turn make them more firm. Some of your very favorite recipes utilize this process such as Sweet Potato Casserole, Classic Potato Gratin, Classic Squash Casserole, Sour Cream Mashed Potatoes, Spicy Baked Ziti, The New Macaroni & Cheese plus an array of others. On the sweet side, boiling makes Vanilla Pastry Cream, Pate a Choux, Lemon-Mint Simple Syrup & homemade jams possible as well. It may deliver the desired result by itself or be used in conjunction with other cooking techniques within the body of a recipe as in the case of Jalapeño Macaroni & Cheese. Learn the basic procedure for getting boiling underway in your very own kitchen.

How to boil water. It’s one of the basic fundamentals of cooking & yes, you can achieve success. The key to boiling items such as quinoa, barley & pasta is to be certain there is room for foods to expand so choosing the right pot to use is important.
