How To Fry Tostada Shells
Frying your own Tostada Shells as opposed to purchasing them makes such a big difference in taste & texture. If authentic Mexican cuisine restaurant quality is what you’re looking to achieve, this small step may be done early in the day when entertaining is planned. Follow these pointers to ensure they are crisp from the center to the edges.
The Technique
One of the vital steps to ensuring a crisp corn tortilla is being certain to pierce a small hole in the center once it puffs in the oil. It will happen quickly, so you must be alert. Use a small wooden pick or the ends of the tongs to achieve this result. Secondly, carefully submerging it during the frying procedure all over the tortilla will aide in establishing even, golden color. Otherwise, you will have a tortilla that is super dark along the edges & hardly any coloration change in the center indicating a flimsy texture.
