Campari Tomatoes 

Campari tomatoes, also known as solanum lycopersicum ‘campari’, are considered a cocktail tomato & were developed specifically for the modern consumer. Campari’s are a good choice to use in salads & appetizers for those whom maybe aren’t inclined with a green thumb as they’re readily available in markets. The fruit is sold on the vine & are grown hydroponically & because of this, pesticides are not necessary in order to ensure beautiful fruit. These small, bright globes are larger than traditional cherry tomatoes such as Sweet 100’s yet smaller than Romas. If you plan to grow your own, Campari tomatoes thrive in full sun with plants reaching between 6 & 8-feet tall & are known to produce fruit in approximately 70 days. It is considered a hybrid. Campari tomatoes grow in clusters on the vine & the fruit begins to ripen at the top eventually making it’s way down. Rinse the them under cool water before slicing & using in recipes with a serrated utility knife which produces the neatest portions. Try them over sandwiches, in salads or make a low-acid, vibrant salsa with Campari tomatoes.
