makes about 3 dozen

The Basic Fundamentals

Bake a few minutes longer for crisp cookies. Substitute white chocolate morsels for the candies to change the flavor.

3/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 tsp vanilla extract
2 cups plus 6 Tbsp ap flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp kosher salt
1 {11.4-oz} bag milk chocolate M&M’s
1 cup bittersweet chocolate chips

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Beat the butter & the sugars at Medium speed with an electric stand mixer until light & fluffy. Add the eggs & the vanilla, beating until blended. Combine the flour, the soda & the salt in a small bowl. Add to the butter mixture & blend on Low speed just until the mixture is blended. Add the candies & the chocolate morsels. Give the mixer a few more spins until all of the ingredients are well blended. Drop the dough by heaping tablespoonfuls onto lightly greased foil-lined or parchment paper-lined baking sheets. Bake, in batches, 9 to 11 minutes or until the tops are lightly browned. Cool on the pans.

The Extra Point

Refrigerate the dough overnight & bake the cookies just before guests arrive for fresh from the oven flavor.
