Leather & Lace Ups

My grandmother used to have a basket of toys. It was upstairs in the home office tucked away behind an old rocking chair. We instinctively made a bee line for it. Beneath the teacups, the saucers & an assortment of baby dolls with all of these crazy eyes, a gently tattered box await. The cardboard around the corners was exposed. You had to dump everything out of the basket to get to it. A June Cleaver look alike graced the cover inviting you to sit & stay awhile. Inside were a stack of cards with young ladies posing in a collection of stylish ensembles. Different shades of yarn & a pattern of tiny holes around each silhouette needled me every time.

High Top Sneaker Bunting steps in & adds a swoosh of charm to basketball parties. Inspired by Superfly Hoops Legend, Michael Jordan, you can jump shot a line of your own game day darlings for a memorable gathering.

Draw a 5 to 6-inch sneaker shape onto white card stock & cut with scissors.
Once you have the first sneaker, use it as a template for a similar sized shoes.
Trace & cut additional shapes. An odd number always looks great.

Pierce 16 holes along the base of each shoe using a tiny-sized punch.
Pierce 10 holes on the opposite side to resemble a spot for laces.

Thread the sneakers by weaving twine through the holes.
Secure the ends on the backside with tape.
For a shadow effect, cut an additional shape in a contrasting color.
Stagger the two pieces & secure with tape.

Cut swoosh-ish designs from a contrasting color of craft paper.
Attach to the sneakers with tape.

Pierce two holes at the top of the shoes & thread together with twine.
Shazam! Weave throughout your snack table for the win.
