A handful of summer-fresh berries & herbs brighten beautifully barbecue sauce effortlessly adding bold flavor to smoky favorites. Smother pulled pork sandwiches with the sauce or brush over grilled chicken, ribs & pork tenderloin. A bottle of barbecue sauce jumpstarts loads for fresh ideas for good summer eating.

makes 2 cups

1 cup fresh blueberries
1/4 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 {18-oz} bottle barbecue sauce
1 Tbsp chopped fresh thyme

Combine the blueberries & the orange juice in a 2-qt sauce pan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat & simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.Press the berries with a wooden spoon to help release the juice.

Stir the barbecue sauce & the fresh thyme into the blueberry mixture. Reduce the heat to medium-low & cook for 5 additional minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from the heat. Serve with grilled meats. Store leftovers in the refrigerator up 1 week.

Note: I used Bullseye Original Barbecue Sauce for easy availability.
